Slack Workspace Image

Why Slack Workspace Images and GIFs Are Not Loading

Introduction:

When your Slack desktop application fails to display images, shared files, or animated GIFs, an aggressive network firewall block or overloaded cache data is usually responsible. This communication bug prevents corporate remote workers from viewing visual design attachments. Follow these three quick fixes to restore your Slack image rendering features immediately.

H2: Step 1. Force Clear the Slack Desktop Client App Cache

Overloaded temporary system cache tokens can stall the Slack layout engine, stopping media files and thumbnails from loading smoothly from cloud servers.

  1. Launch your Slack application on your computer.
  2. Click on the Help option located in the top windows menu bar.
  3. Hover your mouse over Troubleshooting in the drop-down menu.
  4. Select Clear Cache and Restart from the options list.
  5. The application will close, wipe its visual temporary memory data, and reopen automatically.

H2: Step 2. Whitelist Slack Asset Servers Inside Windows Defender Firewall

Sometimes local Windows security systems mistake Slack’s content delivery servers (CDNs) for suspicious online trackers and block them.

  1. Click the Windows Start icon, type Windows Security, and hit Enter.
  2. Select Firewall & network protection from the dashboard menu.
  3. Click on the link that says Allow an app through firewall.
  4. Click the Change settings button at the top (requires admin approval).
  5. Scroll down to find Slack, and check the boxes for both Private and Public networks.
  6. Click OK to apply the settings, then restart the Slack application.

H2: Step 3. Disable Secure DNS Controls Inside Google Chrome

If you use Slack inside a web browser and have secure DNS options turned ON, Chrome can block image links due to server certificate mismatches.

  1. Open Google Chrome, click the three dots in the top right corner, and open Settings.
  2. Click on Privacy and Security on the left menu, then select Security.
  3. Scroll down to the Advanced configuration section.
  4. Locate the option labeled Use secure DNS and turn it OFF temporarily.
  5. Close and reopen your Chrome browser, then refresh your Slack workspace to view your files.
